Firework tips for sensitive eyes and ears

It's fireworks season and the bright lights and bangs could cause distress for children with auditory and visual sensitivities. It is essential that you prepare your child and tell them beforehand that there will be flashes of light, loud noises and busy crowds. For children with over-sensitive visual input, give them a peak hat to wear. If the light is too bright they can dip their head and the peak will help shelter their eyes. For children with over-sensitive auditory input, use headphones or earmuffs to mute the noise. You could watch the display from inside a property or a car which would also mute the noise slightly.
